Displacement
Isa Melsheimer´s ceramic “models“ effect a reconstruction and two-way admixture of specific architectural and natural elements — parts of the buildings seem to have been eroded by nature, invaded by life, while natural objects have been imbued with architectural structural traits. A vision of an urban cityscape made from broken glass is at once both beautiful and dangerous, alluding to its allure for the infinitesimal individual, and its unbridgeable distance. Melsheimer´s creations set out from research on modernist architecture to present science fiction-esque architectural spectacles suspended in a dialectic state between construction and abandonment. Architecture in different spatiotemporal states is constantly being displaced, as past and future, inorganic and organic, static and dynamic coverage on this point.
